Been hitting a wall?

If so, you're not alone. According to The Power Path's monthly forecast, the theme of July is "Growing Pains." If my life, or the lives of pretty much all of my clients, are any indication, these shamans have it dead straight:

According to the forecast, "[This month] is emotionally hormonal, reactive against old structures and perceived limitations, and extremely uncomfortable. We don’t know who we are anymore, can’t relate to our world, and tend to moodiness and resistance. And just like it was when you were 11 or 12 or 13 years old, the only way to the other side is through. To stay behind is not an option. Change is the only thing that we can truly count on. So it is not a question of whether or not we move through this cycle but HOW we move through it."

So there it is. I was actually relieved to have someone name it. And if this simply is the next stage we have to move through, then I'd rather know about it than not.

The forecast talks about letting go of things that may have worked for you in the past but no longer do. I've been doing this both consciously and by default. It's like a snake shedding its skin--you can't grow if your skin is too tight, if you can't breathe, if you can't move the way you want to. You've got to let go so you can move on.

For me, this summer has become a time to draw in, to quiet down, and to look at everything in my life so I can decide what stays and what goes. Take a look to see if any of these steps may work for you:

  • I have un-committed from projects I was once excited about but that weren't really the most important place for me to spend my time.
  • I've been listening to my gut and to my coach's advice about decision making ("If it's not a 'Hell yes!' it's a no.") and saying no more often.
  • And I've been figuring out what exactly I do in my business (you can substitute "life," if that makes more sense for you), how it's changed, and what I want to put out into the world.

I used to want all the answers yesterday, and now I see it doesn't work that way. I used to hate that anything had to be a process (from getting organized to getting healthy to building a marriage to growing a business), and now I'm discovering the gifts you only get by honoring the process (not that you have much of a choice, but seeing the upside helps). I used to spend a lot of time being angry (at my lack of progress, my piles of paper, my husband, my parents, the dishes in the sink, the fact that everything takes time, the fact that only half my clothes fit at any given moment), and now I practice acceptance, which feels soooooo much better.

Note that I said "practice."

I've had a lot of opportunities to practice acceptance lately. I took on my own 40 Day Miracle challenge and committed to doing the things that matter most to me. It's been eye-opening.

I'm still on the journey, and I'm going to open it up to you so you can see what "process" looks like from the inside. It's not always pretty, but seeing what happens when you commit to something is powerful.

We're setting up the practical pieces right now to give you access, and I'll let you know when the doors to my brain have been opened. In the meantime, I want to invite you to think about what's most important to YOU--that you're not getting to. Please try to do this without judgment, shame or blame; simply think about what you wish you were doing, or having, or being right now, and consider the possibility that it's actually on its way. And I'd love for you to share what those things are with me.

I'm taking myself through this process and sharing it with you so that I can take my own goals more seriously (accountability = stronger results) AND so that I can show you a path that may work for you as well. Because I'm betting there's someplace you'd like to be in your life/business that you haven't quite reached yet, and my intention is to help you get there.
